  • WHO DO WE SERVE?

    A homeless count in 2015 found 3,715 homeless men, women and children in Contra Costa, not including the hidden homeless (those living with friends, family or in cars). There are over 2,013 homeless school-age children in the county. The number of homeless parents and children jumped dramatically from 414 in 2009 to over 1,075 in 2015.

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE DID WE ASSIST DURING THIS PAST YEAR?

    As an innovative leader, SHELTER, Inc. helps over 2,400 men, women and children in Contra Costa each year; almost half are children.

  • WHERE DOES OUR MONEY COME FROM?

    $11.6 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year was funded through:

    Publicly Funded Contracts: 67 %
    Rents & Fees: 10%
    Private Grants & Contributions: 18%
    In-kind Contributions: 5%

  • WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

    We maintain low administration and fundraising costs, resulting in 95% of expenses going directly to client services and associated administration.

    Accounting and administration, administrative management and offices, insurance, utilities, technology infrastructure and government grant administration.

    5% Development & Community Outreach
    Grant development, media and public relations, donor mail and newsletters, volunteer coordination and special events.
