SHELTER Santa Spreads Smiles

Many families in our community continue to struggle to provide even the basic necessities of food, warm clothing and shelter.

We love to hear about local business owners who help their neighbors in times of need as well as provide some comfort and joy during the holidays.

Bo McSwine, of Bo's BBQ in Lafayette, has played Santa for more than 10 years as a partner of SHELTER, Inc. Every year, he asks for a wish list from SHELTER, Inc.'s transitional housing program in Antioch.

He delivered toys and food to some 35 children last weekend at the Lyle Morris Family Center in Antioch. "Providing toys for these kids is the highlight of my year," says Bo.

The mission of SHELTER, Inc. is to prevent and end homelessness among low-income residents of Contra Costa County by providing resources that lead to self-sufficiency.
