People seeking local health and social services can call 2-1-1 or visit the Contra Costa Crisis Center for a full list of resources. Calls are answered 24 hours per day, 365 days per year by trained information and referral specialists at the Contra Costa Crisis Center. If calling outside of Contra Costa County use 800-830-5380.

Housing Resources

  • Bay Area Rescue Mission provides basic and special need services for homeless persons including temporary housing, food, clothes, furniture and household goods.

  • Catholic Charities of East Bay Critical Family Needs Program provides one-time rental assistance to a limited number of eligible families and individuals, including seniors, who are experiencing a crisis and need emergency help to maintain their family well-being.

  • The Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services provides Contra Costa residents assistance with employment, child care, housing and other services.

  • GRIP provides food, shelter and supportive services to help homeless individuals and families.

  • One Home is a free, nonprofit website that helps people locate affordable housing.

Food, Employment and Legal Resources

  • Bay Area Legal Aid provides legal assistance to Bay Area residents with cases involving government benefits, health care, domestic violence restraining orders, divorce custody and support.

  • The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano distributes food directly to low-income people at community sites.

  • Rubicon Programs provides job placement, legal services, and financial literacy to East Bay residents.

  • Opportunity Junction provides assistance with job training, career counseling and college counseling.
