Help us provide for the basic needs of a family. Throughout the year, SHELTER, Inc. needs a variety of household items, personal care items, and holiday goods to assist families as they transition into housing. We have limited storage space so please contact us regarding donations of items not listed.

These items are always accepted at SHELTER, Inc. Please contact us at (925) 957-7561 to arrange a drop off time for listed items.

SHELTER, Inc. accepts any publicly traded exchange-listed stocks, common or preferred. To provide you with the most direct service and acknowledgement for your generosity, please contact the our development department at donations@shelterinc.org or call 925.752.7572.

SHELTER, Inc. accepts most vehicles, running or not. Please call Car Donation Services, Inc. directly at 1 (888) 686-4483 and tell them you’d like to donate a vehicle to SHELTER, Inc. and they will take care of the rest!

Car Donation Service is licensed by the State Attorney General’s office, bonded and insured, and complies with all tax reporting requirements. 

The residual amount left on your BART tickets, whether five cents or five dollars, will be redeemed at face value.

Leave a personal legacy and support a cause that has meaning to you. Include SHELTER, Inc in your estate plan with one of the following options:

PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION & HOW INFORMATION IS USED
When SHELTER, Inc. asks for personal information, you are sharing that information with SHELTER, Inc. alone. SHELTER, Inc. may collect the following information from donors and those interested in our work: name, address, credit card, and other information volunteered by you, such as email address and telephone. We NEVER share or sell donor information.

We restrict access to information about donors to those SHELTER, Inc. employees who need to know the information to process your donation. We maintain strict physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect donors’ personal information.

SHELTER, Inc. uses the information to send you communications such as e-newsletters, various printed publications or email/written appeals, and to help administer and improve our services.

ONLINE DONATIONS
You can rest assured that your donations are safe and protected as SHELTER, Inc. uses industry-standard encryption to protect the confidentiality of all donor information. All donations are processed through the third party secured server, Network for Good.

If you donate online, your information will NEVER be shared outside SHELTER, Inc. and Network for Good. To keep you updated on how your donations are being used, we will contact you from time to time via email updates and direct mail, which you can opt out of at any time simply by calling us at (925) 957-7566 or by emailing us at shelter@shelterinc.org.

DONATIONS BY MAIL
We will NEVER share your name with any other organization, individual, or company. We periodically send direct mail pieces, newsletters, annual reports, and donor acknowledgement letters, but you may choose to be removed from our mailing list at any time simply by calling (925) 957-7566 or by emailing us at shelter@shelterinc.org and asking to be removed.

E-MAIL UPDATES
Email updates provide an opportunity for us to report to SHELTER, Inc.’s supporters on the progress of our work in a quick and efficient manner. It is extremely important to us that our volunteers, donors, and funders feel connected to the work we do and confident that we are fulfilling the mission you support.

To receive these updates, you must provide SHELTER, Inc. with your email address. This information is held in complete confidence. We will NEVER sell, rent, or trade this information to a third party. You will be given the option to remove your name from our email list at the bottom of each update.
