You can create and lead a drive for needed items for homeless families. Such drives include baby items, gift cards for food, toiletries, holiday gifts, and bathroom starter kits. You can get your school, church, friends, and local community involved by planning a drive that will provide the basic necessities for families struggling to get back on their feet.
CREATE A WELCOME HOME PACKAGE
Welcome a family into their new home by creating a welcome package with new items they'll need for a room in their home. For example: create a kitchen welcome package with towels, pots, pans, spices, dishes, and cleaning supplies.
HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
Projects such as painting, landscaping, cleaning, and helping to furnish units for families are needed throughout the year.
GROUP MEAL PROJECTS
Create a menu for the families at the Martinez Mountain View Emergency Family Shelter. Groups will provide, prepare, and serve meals for approximately 30 people. These projects are held on-site at our shelter locations or various field trip locations. We plan events for the children who live at our sites to enrich their lives. The projects include movie days, picnics, sports games, going to the park, arts-and-crafts days, museums, and holiday parties. We need chaperones for the children to help share their experience.
Do you like office work? Need office experience while searching for a job? If so, we have an immediate need for volunteers to help us on a few office projects. Set your own schedule throughout the work day, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
