We're Cooking Up Something Special!

Construction is well-underway on a new dining hall and kitchen at SHELTER Solano! We’re excited to work on this new facility, which will provide a wide variety of benefits for our shelter residents. Not only will they be able to meet and enjoy meals in a larger space, but they will also be able to learn vital culinary arts skills that will assist them on their ways back to self-sufficiency.

From Groundbreaking to Above Ground! Final touches coming to SHELTER Solano Dining Hall and Kitchen.

Update: July 28, 2022

Our project has experienced supply chain delays for vital kitchen elements and appliances. A backordered grease trap installs this week, then main water and gas lines go in. We will apply for a temporary occupancy permit once building is hooked up. This will allow us to use the building for meetings; commercial kitchen will remain closed until all equipment installed and health department pass issued. After that final project approval will come from the City of Fairfield.  It is now expected to open for meetings in September. Once final kitchen equipment is installed, and we obtain our health department permit and final City of Fairfield inspection, the dinner bell can ring!
